Sneak Peek: “Wabi-Sabi” Live Electric Quartet

The full recording of my “live electric” rendition of Wabi-Sabi is finished!

As you can see from the video of the first movement, “Emergence”, I was able to record all four string parts with my 6-string electric violin. This is definitely a fun piece to play–challenging, emotional, harmonious… 😀

Look for it to be included on an upcoming album release, but for now, enjoy this early sneak peek of the full recording below!

New Artwork: “Wabi Sabi”

I have recently been introduced to the Japanese art aesthetic, wabi sabi, and I’m in love with the idea!

Some thoughts on the idea include:

  • Celebrating imperfections as part of a beautiful universe that makes you, you
  • “If an object or expression can bring about, within us, a sense of serene melancholy and a spiritual longing, then that object could be said to be wabi-sabi.” (Andrew Juniper)
  • Wabi-sabi nurtures all that is authentic by acknowledging three simple realities: nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect.” (Richard Powell)

In celebration of this ideal, I’ve created some new merch I hope you enjoy! One listing is created for customizable apparel, and the other for everything else. 🙂

One more thing to look forward to… I’ve decided to take this idea and shape my newest string quartet sketches around it. Look for a new string quartet work to be revealed soon!
