Review for USB Stereo Audio Adapter, and a How-To…

My USB adapter arrived today! Yippee! iPhone image on 2013-07-23 at 15_42_19

I opened it up to play around with it a bit, just to make sure that my computer and GarageBand would recognize it…

The computer instantly saw it and I was able to adjust the input in the System Preferences–>Sound menu.

Now, interestingly enough, GarageBand did not readily perceive the extra input source….

So, I went into Preferences….

…Clicked onto the Audio/MIDI section….

…Where I could click the “Audio Input” drop-down button to find “C-Media USB Audio Device”…

And, voilà, GarageBand was now receiving the info coming in from the adapter, once I selected it in Input Source drop-down menu of the track.

And, so far, just plugging Aisling directly into the port (via a wonderfully handy 1/8th to 1/4 inch male-to-male cable adapter I have), the sound is crystal clear!

Next up, sometime this week, I’ll begin attaching everything together with my awesome beautiful Behringer mixer and start recording the nice demos for Gypsy Wanderer…!

I’m inspired— and I’m gonna finish my Violin Sonata’s 4th and final movement!!! Hopefully today…. I think I’ve settled on a title: "Gypsy Wanderer"!!

There’s practically no title on gypsies that hasn’t been over-used, but at least this one isn’t related to any music right upfront, that I could find; just some artwork… I like it!!

But I like the music even more!!! I was thinking how oddly "traditional-style 12-tone" my techniques in the last movement are; and yet, the result is still really fun and crazy, totally accessible music… And a serious CHALLENGE for both the violinist and pianist, let me tell you!!!!

I’m just tickled the way it’s taking shape– it’s a really unique addition to my repertoire!! 😉
