Hello, friends! I know I’m not usually one to post on subjects strictly related to me, and not on news that somehow impacts the music world in general, but I thought some may be interested on the current status of my first “real” Demo-type recording of my compositions.
As of last night, we have two completed compositions edited and laid out on CD – Greek Dance and Face in the Moonlight. These were both recorded early last week, in just one evening (many thanks to the musicians who gave of their time and effort for this project). Needless to say, this is not really a pro-quality recording – there are performance issues in Greek Dance, for example, that I think only several months’ practice and/or the Kronos Quartet could solve 😉 – but this is certainly the best performance of these works I have ever heard (wow, I didn’t realize my music was so challenging, on so many levels: performance, recording, editing…)! Thus, the giant smile on my face…
I intend to include the track-ready hit-tune Vortex Warped on this CD, as well as the Cal Poly performance of Image II: Bleeding Heart. Next on the list, is to record Pittsburgh Melody (with the talents of my dear James on flugelhorn) and Personal Echo. I’m sure this will wind up being a really nice representation of some of my favorites.
Now all we have to do is get that string orchestra… 😯 🙂
Further Update – 1/20/06: Yay! Personal Echo is ready to go (and it sounds better than it ever has, thanks to our recording engineer and his ideas about recording MIDI and electronics), and we recorded Pittsburgh Melody last night. All that remains is to edit that one a bit, and we have a six-song CD. Woo-hoo! :p
Update again!- 2/3/06: It’s officially complete!! James and I will announce further details soon, when we know what we’re going to do next…
Final Update (?!) – 3/25/07: F.Y.I. I have the CD finished, of course, and I’d be happy to send a copy along to anyone who would like one, for a mere $10…. Just drop me a note, and let me know! 🙂
